Under the Sea Baby Shower

I was asked to co-host a baby shower for a friend that goes to our church. Her nursery theme is Under the Sea, so we decided to use that for the baby shower.

Fish Sugar Cookie Pops (that turned out horrible)

We also had Tuna Fish Sandwiches and Sea Water (which was just water that we put a little bit of blue dye in it!)

We had to shrink down the bait (take them out of the fish shape) so that more food could fit on the table)

We also had a basket of goldfish treat bags with a sign that said: “Thanks for swimming by.”

Instead of a tradition sign in, we had the guests sign the Dr. Seuss Book – Yurtle the Turtle.

So grateful for the others that helped put it all together and for all the guests that showed up to support the guest of honor!

While I was prepping, Parker was at school and this little lady found the tissue box!

Baby Shower

Valentine’s Day

Parker had a class party at his pre-school (Child’s Day Out) for Valentine’s Day.

I wanted to make baskets or something for each of the kids to take home, but wasn’t sure what to do.  I had seen the mailboxes in the Dollar Section at Target and after a friend told me about them again, I knew they would be super cute.

IMG_4650I left them simple — Pink for girls, blue for boys and a red heart on the front with their names on them (all thanks to my husband — he’s the one who went to the store, and did it all.  I wasn’t feeling the best.)

Adam got a whoopee cushion for Christmas and Parker loved it!  So when I saw something similar to this online….

I knew they would be perfect!

It’s so hard to get both of them to look and smile at the same time!

Holidays Valentines

Striped Wall

We panted Riglee’s wall orange and were going to put brown spots on it.  I decided that I wanted to do vertical stripes instead.  So my sweet husband came home at lunch time and helped me make chalk lines.

I measured the wall and then had to figure out how many stripes I wanted.  I could either have eight 16 inch stripes or sixteen 8 inch stripes.  I decided on the later.

I put tape in the stripes that I wasn’t going to paint.
IMG_4452Then I taped it off.  It took me about an hour and I got lots of Cardio in going up and down the step-stool!

IMG_4455After taping it off, I painted over the edged of the paint with the wall color.  It seal the tape so that the new color won’t bleed underneath it.
*NOTE* make sure you wipe off the chalk line before doing this!

IMG_4456It took me a little while to paint all the stripes, but we had it done that evening.  I painted 2 coats with a paint brush, and then husband painted a final coat with a paint roller.

IMG_4462We bought cardboard 3-d letters at Hobby Lobby to spell out Riglee’s name to hang on the wall.

It took forever to wrap all 6 letters (just over two movies!) Husband was a trooper and helped me get them done.

Then I added embellishments.

IMG_4499I was going to hang them with ribbon, but I thought the “L” might look funny, so we just hung them on the wall with nails.

IMG_4517Parker wanted to be in the pictures, I finally gave in!

We have a few more things to do before Riglee’s room is done, hopefully we will get them done soon so that we will have at least one room in the house totally decorated!!

Bathroom Make-over

We have been so busy with life, that we still haven’t done much to decorate our house. It’s slowly, but surely coming together.

Adam took these pictures of the kids and I wanted to hang them in the dining room, but I wanted them vertical instead of horizontal.
So we hung them in the bathroom.

I put this vinyl on the bathtub. I think it’s hilarious and it makes me smile every time I see it.
