Healthy Me

I’m the type of person that I start a diet and get sick of it and want my sweets/junk food so much that I give up and quit.  I joined a gym almost a year ago and lost a good 10-15 lbs when I first started going.  After I lost that weight, I gave up and quit going.  It’s been months since I’ve been.

A friend of mine texted me last Saturday and told me she was going to the gym.  It was so early.  I rolled over and started trying to go back to sleep.  I then realized that I needed this.  I had been praying for strength and energy to go to the gym and so I got out of bed and went to the gym and worked out for an hour.  I realized how terribly out of shape I am again and how hard it was to do the elliptical.  I went 4 days last week trying to keep it up and go.  I’ve been twice this week so far.

Today I tried working out on a different machine.

It’s called the Adaptive Motion Trainer.  It is so hard.  I thought I was going to die.  I did the “fat burner” mode and it switches resistance every four minutes for 28 minutes.  I didn’t think I could make it and I wanted to give up.  But I suffered through and made it all 28 minutes. I really love that in that 28 minutes, I burned over 500 calories though!

Have you ever tried the Adaptive Motion Trainer?
What do you do at the gym?
How long do you go?
How often do you go?
Do you diet too?

Things As of Late

Life has been totally crazy last week!  I feel like life needs to slow down a little.  But it’s inevitable with the holidays.  Last Friday I drove 4 hours to pick up my niece and nephews to come stay with me for the weekend while their parents went out of town for their anniversary.  I left at 10:30 am, got there at 2:30 pm – with a stop for lunch and a stop for the bathroom, then we  left at 4:00pm and got home at 7:30.  It was totally crazy.  I was tired after being in the car all day long.  Luckily I only had Parker.

Saturday night we kept my other niece and nephew as well because their parents wanted to go out for their anniversary.  (In our Fam, there is an Anniversary on Nov 18, Nov 19 and Nov 22)  We had the kids (all 7 of them) in bed and asleep by 9 pm.  My parents listened for them while we went to see the 11:30 show of Breaking Dawn. (I’ll post my thoughts on the movie in another post)

We got home about 2 and when I walked in to check on the kids one of the nieces told me the bed was cold.  I thought it’s because she was barely covered.  When I went to cover her, the sheets were wet.  Poor thing had wet the bed and we had to change the sheets.  We got in bed about 3 and Parker came and got in bed with me at 4:45 — I was tired the next morning when we got up at 7:15!!

I was amazed we were on time to church!  Sunday everyone was over to eat lunch and my sis-in-law said that she needed to make a grocery list and that she wanted gumbo but didn’t like how hers turned out last time.  I told her that if she bought the groceries, I’d cook!  So last night everyone was back over for gumbo — sadly it didn’t taste right.  But it was okay.

Tonight she is getting the stuff for me to make chicken taquitos!  I could get use to this.  Not having to go to the grocery store.  Just have to cook!  That would be fantastic if every day was like that

I attempted to make pie crust today from scratch.  I have never made pie crust and I have never made a pie…we’ll see how they turn out…

Tons of Posts Coming Soon

It has been a total pain in the butt not having my mac laptop.  Okay it’s husbands – but I totally pretend it’s mine and I use it 99% of the time and let him use its 1% of the time.  I can’t wait until the new one comes in.  But until then, I’ve still been emailing my photos one by one and using my dad’s pc to blog.  It’s totally not fun and I hate it, but life goes on!

Husband says I can update from my phone, but to post recipes and such, it’s so much easier from a computer.

I have a chocolate fudge cake recipe coming, muddy buddies aka puppy chow aka whatever the heck you want to call it because it has 1000 names, a chocolate ganache recipe, and banana bread cookies! :)

I also have a few pictures of the kids to post as well.  Hopefully I’ll get them posted for you soon!

Update coming soon

It’s been one of those weekends where all you want to do is lounge around in your pjs, but we’ve been too busy for that!!
I’ve been trying out new recipes this weekend with my sister – I’ll post about those later in the week.
We also had her take a few family photos of us with her fancy camera since photographers are so expensive! One day we will afford it but not today especially when my big Sis has such a nice camera and husband has such amazing Photoshop skills!!
I am a little depressed though. Husband’s (but I say it’s mine) laptop crashed tonight. Luckily we have been backing things up lately and if we can’t retrieve anything it won’t be anything too important (hopefully)!! I just hope he can save the pictures we took this weekend!!!

So I promise to update you with pictures (hopefully) and some recipes soon!!

It’s Hailing

We live in Southeast Texas and haven’t had rain pretty much all year.  We are in a major drought and have had to conserve water.  However, we aren’t as bad as some parts of Texas.  Have you heard about all the crazy wild fires?  Not fun!

We actually got rain today.  It only rained about 30-45 minutes, but I’ll take it!  While it was raining, I could hear something hitting the roof.  Lots of somethings actually.  I went outside to see what it was and it was hail.  Craziness!

Parker loved it and so did I! :)
