Flag Blocks

I am still trying to think of something to make for the Super Saturday in May…In the meantime, I made these Flag Blocks.

The tutorials I found said to cut your 2×4 so that you have two 7 inch blocks and four 3 1/2 inch blocks.  However, when I turned the blue blocks on their edge, they were taller than the white and red ones stacked up next to them and it bothered me.  So husband took them back outside and cut a little more off the blue blocks for me.  He took off a little bit more than half an inch.

My Blocks -
two 7 inch
two 3 1/2 inch
two 3 inch

Paint both 3 inch blocks blue, one of the 7 inch blocks white, one of the 7 inch blocks red, one of the 3 1/2 inch blocks white and one of the 3 1/2 inch blocks red.

Sand them so they look distressed.

Paint you star white (or you could use white vinyl or white card stock and cut out a star) and glue it on the front of one of the 3 inch blue blocks.  Stack all of you blocks together and tie a bow around them to hold them in place.

What do you think?
